  • Iris recognition:An algorithm of a person's universe?

Breakthrough work to create the iris recognition algorithms required for image acquisition and one-to-many matching was pioneered by John G. Daugman, Ph.D, OBE (University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory), who holds key patents on the method. These were utilized to effectively debut commercialization of the technology in conjunction with an early version of the IrisAccess system designed and manufactured by Korea's LG Electronics. Daugman's algorithms are the basis of almost all currently (as of 2006) commercially deployed iris-recognition systems. It has a so far unmatched practical false-accept rate of zero; that there is no known pair of images of two different irises that the Daugman algorithm in its deployed configuration mistakenly identifies as the same. (In tests where the matching thresholds are – for better comparability – changed from their default settings to allow a false-accept rate in the region of 10−3 to 10−4 [1], the IrisCode false-reject rates are comparable to the most accurate single-finger fingerprint matchers

Dear collegues, I read your web page .

At this propoal I would like to underline that Liesegang Rings are a well known phenomena of out-of equilibrium in self-organization of chemical transformations. see : http://www.wbabin.net/science/manzelli36.pdf

The difficult in understanding all the spontaneous self-organizaion phenomena in nature, today is becoming an emergent problem in bio-chemical and in quantum physics.

This conceptual emergency is derived from the importance of the auto-assembly in the production of new nano-and bio-materials during the self-organization of smaller-scale structures.

Therefore the effective emergence about the need to a better understanding self-organization in bio-chemical transformations ( the Liesegang Rings are only a visible example of a generalized scientific question) is becoming fundamental as a conseguence that scientists normally avoid to think about the need to reflect about the limits of the space-time model that science commonly utilizes as a pre-determined standard paradigm of reality.

In spite of this space-time model of mechanical tradition, contemporary science need to advance in the undestanding of Self-organization phenomena in nature remembering that:

"No scientific concept is sufficiently defined without a clear relationship with the knowledge of validity its space -time domain ."

In other words, you do not really understand a science model until you understand the limits of application of the space-time reference-frame for which the scientific model assumes its validity". see: http://www.wbabin.net/science/manzelli37.pdf

The four dimensions of Space-Time are sufficient as a context in which all physical phenomena in nature can be described, but the Space Time model cannot be limited to the Euclidedan geometry and composition (traditional or generalized), based on three coordinates for define the local position in the space and only one for a continuous succession of instants in a clock meaurements of time. (e.g.in Cartesian coordinates ,XYZ,T)

In fact fluctuation between "bonding and no bonding rings" , are an evidence in self organization in out-of equilibria behaviour in liesegang rings and also in all the bio-chemical self-catalysed transformation. To interpret this non-linear change evidently the continuous time arises as a very un-naturally approach in the space-time modelling of a variety of phenomena, where periodic fluctuations are present.

In fact science paradoxically suppose the existence "chaos " ( that can be treat through probabilistic or stochastics models), at any time that the previous equilibrium of reagents , become destroyed ; so that only at the new equilibrium conditions of products in any bio-chemial reaction mechanics science get a new possibility ability to utilize the traditional geometry of Space-Time.

The idea that the biochemical transformatons can be interpret as phenomena emerging from the "chaos" , in effect is a conseguence of the standardized application of the uniform parametric domain of Space-Time ,that isonly an useful model in order to get a local identification of stable structures and their transfer from a local position to another localized space.

As a matter of facts important areas for future research on "self-organization phenomena", need to understand the "no-local" dimension of energy communication, and therefore logically it become necessary to avoid to maintain the linear structure of timing succession in relation to three parametric dimension of space. This model of Space Time is an arbitrary formalism born in origin as ad hoc structure defined for Newtonian dynamics in classical mechanics.

Therefore an innovative model of Space-Time is developped in Quantum-bio-physics (QBP)approach during the ON-NS&A dialog (see : www.egocreanet.it and www.wbabin.net) starting from the changes in space time structure of " entangled wave-particles", propose the assumption of a principle of complete covariance of the four vector matrix of space time geometry in a way to pen a new conceptual strategy in science for undestanding the emergence of self-organization phenomena in nature.

About this "QBP" approach of a generalised Space-Time changes for understanding quantum space-time organization, it is open a debate in a way to develop creative proposal in interpreting science undestanding op self organization phenomena. To enhance such debate the EGOCREANET and collaborators in contemporary science and art will organize a meeting in Florence Italy the 14/NOV/2008 ( www.egocreanet.it). So please, I ask , to all colleagues that are interested in such dialog, to write to me for your active participation in such meeting in Florence.

Very cordially Paolo Manzelli June/28-2008 Firenze

    2. Hello Paolo,

      Liesegang Rings

This subject is new to me, yet not unfamiliar considering Inverse square law. And, the psychological aspects I see in relation to Liminocentric structures which can be found doing a search on this site.

It is eyescapes which I find interesting that you are leaving a comment. Hopefully others will respond to this subject.

      Best,
