Third Quasicrystal Found

Quasicrystals1,2, short for quasiperiodic crystals, are solids able to violate the conventional rules of crystallography because their structure is “quasiperiodic” rather than periodic; that is, their atomic density can be described by a finite sum of periodic functions with periods whose ratio is irrational. Their diffraction pattern consists of true Bragg peaks whose positions can be expressed as integer linear combinations of D integer linearly independent wavevectors where D is greater than the number of space dimensions. Among the quasicrystals made in the laboratory, many exhibit a crystallographically forbidden, three-dimensional icosahedral symmetry defined by D = 6 integer linearly independent wavevectors. Does Consciousness Disappear in Dreamless Sleep?: Consciousness is often said to disappear in deep, dreamless sleep. We argue that this assumption is oversimplified. Unless dreamless sleep is defined as unconscious from the outset there are good empirical and theoretical reasons for saying that a range of different types of sleep experience, some of which are distinct from dreaming, can occur in all stages of sleep. We introduce a novel taxonomy for describing different kinds of dreamless sleep experiences and suggest research methods for their investigation.

Dark Matter Not So Rough Around the Edges

Analysis of a giant new galaxy survey, made with ESO’s VLT Survey Telescope in Chile, suggests that dark matter may be less dense and more smoothly distributed throughout space than previously thought. An international team used data from the Kilo Degree Survey (KiDS) to study how the light from about 15 million distant galaxies was affected by the gravitational influence of matter on the largest scales in the Universe. Hendrik Hildebrandt from the Argelander-Institut für Astronomie in Bonn, Germany and Massimo Viola from the Leiden Observatory in the Netherlands led a team of astronomers [1] from institutions around the world who processed images from the Kilo Degree Survey (KiDS), which was made with ESO’s VLT Survey Telescope (VST) in Chile. For their analysis, they used images from the survey that covered five patches of the sky covering a total area of around 2200 times the size of the full Moon [2], and containing around 15 million galaxies. Newton's Gravimeter of Emotive Discourse


You may be familiar with Isaac Newton from such inventions as calculus and the law of universal gravitation. What you may not know is that he was also an avid "chymist," or alchemist. In fact, Newton actually wrote roughly a million words about alchemy and his experiments with it — as Indiana University science historian William Newman has noted, Newton probably spent more time doing alchemy than he did on any of his other scientific pursuits. I spent a while developing an internal recognition of what can be constituted as the outside being the inside, meaning that if we construct a model of apprehension of understanding as to what these auras mean from a psychological standpoint,  then,  one develops this sense of seeing what thoughts will develop according to that color construct. I used baser emotions to be represented at the base of the model pyramidal constructed, and from a earth standpoint I wanted to develop this gravity model according to how the gravimeter detect variances in the gravity model of earth.
 
All the while these are materialistic demonstrations of the geology in color correlation, I sought to develop the model toward how free we can become of these materialistic tendencies, according to those thought processes.

 What is color? It seems like a simple question at first, but when you think about it, the reality of what we're seeing is a pretty complex situation. Our human eyes sift through a small piece of the vast electromagnetic spectrum and translate it into every color of the rainbow. But there are other animals that see these same wavelengths in different ways, or even see colors beyond what we can perceive! And not all color is dependent on wavelengths of light: the brains of certain people, called synesthetes, work in ways that let them see colors tied to music, words, or other stimuli. If you consider the experiencing states of the person, as to the physical, the mental, the intellectual and the spiritual, these then in the one sense help to align a developmental understanding of the person. As you see certain colors, these will exemplify these consciousness states?

While examining the relationship to a schematic underneath our everyday experiences, I saw the the inner most point of this circle in a sense applies to the outer most spiritual extension we might see in relation to the consciousness of the individual. By becoming in tune with that point, all extensions physically manifesting as a evolving individual one would see correlative expressions of the colors of that spiritual life. Still, emotive and intellectual manifestations of colors are still part of the overall picture. If heavily tune toward intellectual pursuits, then dominant associative colors would be exemplified in the person's aura demonstration.

The understanding is, that all spiritual manifestations regarding the evolving consciousness already exists as to the potential of expression and sits right next to the person. It is by finding that center and understanding you are becoming in tune with that center does one realize that the spiritual is manifesting in those aura colors, along with development regarding the physical, emotional and intellectual.

In regard to Ganzfield?

In complete dark, there seems to me to be an overt expression of the outward? Why they refer to hallucinations, light sensory activation of the perception. On another level does these help to direct focus on the internal?

To convey this experience, I sought to understand what takes over when faced with such blackness. Not like when you close your eyes or purposely cover your eyes, but to let another part of oneself, to help intuitively guide to get to another location. In this sense lost in the bush at night and arriving at another point of safety. Their are no visual cues, but this other part which seems to be able to see and work independently of our conscious intrusion of opinion and action to any situation.

I wanted to also help with information to understand Plato Cave analogy with regard too, the absence of light. Others, with regard to hallucinations. This in contrast to help also understand illusions. Not totally sure here but to understand this relationship as if a normal healthy individual who is experiencing...and how to understand both?

The data stream is not a "external focus," or "opened eyes" in the dark. But "open eyes" on the internal. Illusions to me, we are not effectively in control of the experience, as we are "inside" the experience. When using "internal" perception, an observer is watching the "internal" experience. No will is internal experiencing....without will, but that is not the same observer who watches the experience. In an "observer mode" you can bring back information regarding the experience....is a willful action.

The Flow In our Lives


In positive psychology, flow, also known as the zone, is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by complete absorption in what one does. Named by Mihály Csíkszentmihályi, the concept has been widely referenced across a variety of fields (and has an especially big recognition in occupational therapy), though the concept has existed for thousands of years under other guises, notably in some Eastern religions.[1] Achieving flow is often colloquially referred to as being in the zone.
Flow shares many characteristics with hyperfocus. However, hyperfocus is not always described in a positive light. Some examples include spending "too much" time playing video games or getting side-tracked and pleasurably absorbed by one aspect of an assignment or task to the detriment of the overall assignment. In some cases, hyperfocus can "capture" a person, perhaps causing them to appear unfocused or to start several projects, but complete few.  Flow (psychology)

The standard definition seems to be lacking for me in terms of the experience as that flow had come to me with meaning. At its most deepest levels the experience had an alignment with all aspects of my experiences in life, as if lead to it. These pathways,  as if by laying all these lines over top one another according to an arrow of time.  It is where all these lines crossed.

While on the larger scale of experience, an objectification of actions, at the same time a subjective interpretation, becomes a pathway of expression of experiencing. This to me was like seeing qualitative equations underlying our expression of the words and experiences according too. An geometrical expression of the human experience. That, if one goes backward to a source, it would be like becoming in touch with this stream.....the flow that one touches, as if dipping a finger into the current described as the flow of life....the energy of our life expression. Once connected,  totally immersed.

I talked about this with regard to a fighting aspect in hand to hand, as a momentum felt in a circular motion, as if one used to propel this momentum through a continued force of expression. I saw this in light of Lagrangian understanding as using this to propel satellites further onward to other planets.



 In terms of Lagrangian, one is looking for the least resistance....to see that life expression always finds the fastest route and as fleeting as Deja Vu human perception is capable of perceiving that time frame.

 One has to find this subjective location in life as toward one understanding where these lines cross.  You would understand that it allows for such a pathway to have expressed itself as the life experience.

 In another form of expression I see this flow, as a connection to the arrow of time, as one would regard confirmation of life according to its enforcement as  in the deja Vu experience. One would think a predetermination as a loss in will, but this is contrary to not living our life plan as we had choose it. So one can see, how a choice was made to enter here into this life experience.....and that we choose other routes willingly

 Psychology(flow) had quite a list, and one of those stood out was the poetry.....as if to be consumed by the rise and fall of the rhythms inherent in the words of expression.  Again at the most deepest levels of these are as a subjective experience, that becomes a undifferentiated of any other.

Emergent Gravity and the Dark Universe by Erik P. Verlinde

Recent theoretical progress indicates that spacetime and gravity emerge together from the entanglement structure of an underlying microscopic theory. These ideas are best understood in Anti-de Sitter space, where they rely on the area law for entanglement entropy. The extension to de Sitter space requires taking into account the entropy and temperature associated with the cosmological horizon. Using insights from string theory, black hole physics and quantum information theory we argue that the positive dark energy leads to a thermal volume law contribution to the entropy that overtakes the area law precisely at the cosmological horizon. Due to the competition between area and volume law entanglement the microscopic de Sitter states do not thermalise at sub-Hubble scales: they exhibit memory effects in the form of an entropy displacement caused by matter. The emergent laws of gravity contain an additional `dark' gravitational force describing the `elastic' response due to the entropy displacement. We derive an estimate of the strength of this extra force in terms of the baryonic mass, Newton's constant and the Hubble acceleration scale a_0 =cH_0, and provide evidence for the fact that this additional `dark gravity~force' explains the observed phenomena in galaxies and clusters currently attributed to dark matter.

Busy Since June

Just wanted to explain the abscence of posts lately.

We had been awful busy selling one place, and now finally, securing up our new home for retirement.

So I am really still interested on what is happening in science and of those I am keeping tabs on, but limited on contribution time. I see the fall is bringing an opportunity where I can get back to what I like doing and that is keeping tabs on where our science and philosophy is going. As well as learning what I can to understand the changes our leaders in science and philosophy are explaining.

Which Philosopher was That?

Dogen was a master of "zazen," the particular flavor of contemplative practice developed in Zen. Many of his writings are attempts to help his students understand the importance of, and approach to, this practice. But Dogen also tries to explain what is found, what is discovered, in zazen — and it's here that many find his genius. See:

Was doing some reading when I seen an article by Frank Close of NPR. What also sparked my interest was about 1 and its problems. The subject of Koan's,  as I was exposed to them as a subject very early in my life.

As may be surmised from the foregoing explanation on Zen’s methodological stance, it is perhaps best to understand Zen as an anti-philosophy if the term “philosophy” is taken to mean the establishment of “the kingdom of reason,” which has been launched vis-à-vis an intellectual effort of the most brilliant minds in Europe since the modern period to find new ways to ground our conception of human nature—beyond traditional Christian dogmas which had incorporated classic Aristotelian and Platonic views. Since then, various Western philosophers have attempted to capture human nature with this goal in mind by using ego-consciousness as a starting point as well as a destination in philosophy; to name a few representative ones, human nature has been captured in terms of ego-consciousness (e.g., Descartes), Reason, Personality, Transcendental Subjectivity (e.g., Kant and Husserl), Life (e.g., Dilthey), Existence (e.g., Existential philosophers such as Kierkegaard, Jaspers and Sartre) and Dasein (Heidegger). I mean who really knew if one did not expand the subject as of the idea of a philosophy as a subject as existing outside of the Western philosophers? It was increasing clear as I looked at Plato and the relevance of the image of Raphael's school of Athens, that the picture it self contain in the Vatican's Signatory room at the Vatican holds special appeal for Christian assumed dogmas.

So in this thread,  I speak about what "quantum realism," and what it may look like when we speak about the one, not just as a philosophical base held in dogma, but of the wider view we look at what Plato mean's,  as the finger pointing up, or,  to misconstrue the finger as implying only God or Heaven,  as the One.

As may be surmised then, by relying on the above-mentioned methodological stance, Zen Buddhism has produced an understanding of reality—one’s own self, living nature and human nature—quite different from those offered by Western philosophy. Therefore, we can say that Zen is an anti-philosophy in that it is not a systematization of knowledge built on the use of a discursive mode of reasoning anchored in the (alleged) certainty or transparency of ego-consciousness, by following an Aristotelian either-or logic. Yet, it upholds something like a philosophy that springs forth through a reflective restatement of the practice, though this “upholding” must be understood with a proviso that it maintains, as mentioned in the foregoing, a “positionless position.” (Abe, 1989.) Just trying to see the context of possibilities under a paradigmatic viewing of a simulation of Space and Time.

If you probe the black hole with more energy, it just expands its horizon to reveal no more, so what occurs below the Planck length is unknown.
There is a Big Rip versus Big Bang as to the beginning, and at a fundamental level the question that such a base reality had to emerge from a quantum reality.

Quantum Realism: Every virtual reality boots up with a first event that also begins its space and time. In this view, the Big Bang was when our physical universe booted up, including its space-time operating system. Quantum realism suggests that the big bang was really the big rip.

Its not really a God of the gaps but a limitation on what we can know, so quantum realism sets in as to what the base reality arises from. Yet, information, is being released from the black hole.

Such visualization of what is happening between a Q <-> Q measure is a visualization of change of energy(pulling apart)as the idea of distance requiring greater energies. Reduction-ism had run its limits in the black hole, so what happens inside it looked at from the boundary.

Theoretical excursions from standard views do represent paradigmatic changes regarding cognitive function, as a slip between two changes in our thought functions(the vase) and Kuhn is worth repeating.

But more then that, regardless of these new views, things already existed in place for me governing sources that were attained in my own explorations of consciousness, so these in the view of this paradigmatic change, have new words covering what existed as experience before this simulation hypothesis arose.....as an access too, what is believed to be quantum realism, as an informational source. You show two medium's using some of the changes in views. This is a method I am using as well.

So that "one thing" is quite wide and pervasive in my opinion as to all information existing...much like...Jung's collective unconscious.....which settle's through the tip of the pyramid as a inverse action of what is emergence, and as, what becomes the base reality. A schematic transference of the idea settling into the nature as a base of the pyramid. It would seem correlative toward Plato point up to that one thing. Quantum realism? How ideas filter down into the base reality.

So it really is an interactive exchange, as an inductive/deductive approach toward reality. This is part of my discovery regarding the geometrical underpinnings I mentioned. This development of thought is being seen as I learn of what is going on in my views of science today.

So this has become part of my work to understand how mathematics being developed along with quantum theory is being geometrically realized, as an excursion traveling deep into consciousness that I explored regarding mandala interpretations of experiences attained in lucid dreaming. Layers of interpretation.

Long before understanding and learning of Euclid, I was drawing images of point line plane, and images developed further from this.

It was interesting to see the idea of illusion set in as what was once seen and what is true as a picture present as part of the video demonstration in a follow up. This somehow fits with the idea of quantum cognition as it is seen at these subtle shifts of Paradigmatic change in my view.

Such acceptance proliferates to a new perspective and acceptance of the world seen as the simulation hypothesis. This to me would explain part of one's acceptance of the hypothesis since 2009.

    Like every modern gravitational wave observatory, eLISA is based on laser interferometry technique. Its three satellites form a giant Michelson interferometer in which two "slave" satellites play the role of reflectors and one "master" satellite the one of source and observer. While a gravitational wave is passing through the interferometer, lengths of the two eLISA arms are varying due to space-time distortions resulting from the wave. Practically, it measures a relative phase shift between one local laser and one distant laser by light interference.     A thought that stuck out in my mind.

    As I went through comparative labels,  some things that came up were regarding quantum gravity, or the physics of organic chemistry. How would a simulation hypothesis explain these things.

     Abstraction lives in the land of the simulations as information for consciousness? It only becomes real,  physically, as a matter orientated state of expression?

     But in the same breathe,

        To my mind there must be, at the bottom of it all,
        not an equation, but an utterly simple idea.
        And to me that idea, when we finally discover it,
        will be so compelling, so inevitable,
        that we will say to one another,
        “Oh, how beautiful !

    An idea then.


    It was designed by the RobotCub Consortium, of several European universities and is now supported by other projects such as ITALK.[1] The robot is open-source, with the hardware design, software and documentation all released under the GPL license. The name is a partial acronym, cub standing for Cognitive Universal Body.[2] Initial funding for the project was 8.5 million from Unit E5 – Cognitive Systems and Robotics – of the European Commission's Seventh Framework Programme, and this ran for six years from 1 September 2004 until 1 September 2010.[2]

    The motivation behind the strongly humanoid design is the embodied cognition hypothesis, that human-like manipulation plays a vital role in the development of human cognition. A baby learns many cognitive skills by interacting with its environment and other humans using its limbs and senses, and consequently its internal model of the world is largely determined by the form of the human body. The robot was designed to test this hypothesis by allowing cognitive learning scenarios to be acted out by an accurate reproduction of the perceptual system and articulation of a small child so that it could interact with the world in the same way that such a child does.[3]

    Information and Consciousness

    As I look deeper into ( Tegmark's ideas I am wondering if such affective states as emotion do describe the fluidity of feeling as a discription of all emotive states of being. While consciousness is present in such a state such a fluid system can signal other responses quite readily as a messenging system within the body. We understand well how consciousness can be moved according to such affective states.

     So to then, think of the states of abstraction that mind is given too, as a certain airiness of thought, that the brain as a consciousness system and matter defined, does not sit solely in the matter but seeks thoughts of consciousness as being in quite another state?

     Again too, I examine and wonder about judgement defined as a "matter define process" as decision making. You see these examples being defined as states of consciousness, and relevant examples of information bodily expressed, while conscious shares these facets of ideas formulated as expression from such a higher perceptive place, to reality all around?

    Regarding Determinism

     You can't argue with what's staring you in the face. It is like saying there is nothing. Nothing would never have anything to offer of itself, but it is not determined that way. Nothing like determinism is lead too, by circumstance/contextuality? By our discription of what it is?

    The reality just is? The very situation in the now is connected to what? A past, or a possible, future ?

     Now, if it is subjective, how is such a thing measured in Order for change to become possible, if possible at all? Well thats the thing, destiny and change is possible, even through a subjective understanding?

     While these are functioning facets of consciousness in expression, the subtitled examination is reactions in the bodily function related to these varying perspectives regarding those aspects of consciousness expressed. These become, defined in judgement, in measure. Quickly the materialist has been identified, but not the degrees with which consciousness has been expressed? Recognizing this aspect of layering that is realized in consciousness, reveals a deeper realization of the reality according to states of consciousness? What then is reductionism doing here to say that the final result is materialism , as judgement and measure? Subtle aspects and recognition of consciousness in this way helps to point out what is at work in the world of determinism that is believed to be hidden?

    Paradigmatic Change as a Quantum Process

    Kuhn likened the change in the phenomenal world to the Gestalt-switch that occurs when one sees the duck-rabbit diagram first as (representing) a duck then as (representing) a rabbit, although he himself acknowledged that he was not sure whether the Gestalt case was just an analogy or whether it illustrated some more general truth about the way the mind works that encompasses the scientific case too. 4.2 Perception, Observational Incommensurability, and World-Change

    Does it seem somewhat clearer as we go through perception changes in life we see information and how this information becomes incorporated into our lives, as experience?

    Abstract:

    Processes undergoing quantum mechanics, exhibit quantum interference effects.In this case quantum probabilities result to be different from classical probabilities because they contain an additional main point that in fact is called the quantum interference term. We use ambiguous figures to analyse if during perception cognition of human subjects we have violation of the classical probability field and quantum interference. The experiments, conducted on a group of 256 subjects, evidence that we have such quantum effect.     The Sound of Two Black Holes Colliding

     As the black holes spiral closer and closer in together, the frequency of the gravitational waves increases. Scientists call these sounds "chirps," because some events that generate gravitation waves would sound like a bird's chirp. See: The Sound of Two Black Holes Colliding

    The upcoming network of Earth-based detectors, comprising Advanced Virgo, KAGRA in Japan, and possibly a third LIGO detector in India, will help scientists determine the locations of sources in the sky. This would tell us where to aim “traditional” telescopes that collect electromagnetic radiation or neutrinos. Combining observational tools in this way would be the basis for a new research field, sometimes referred to as “multimessenger astronomy” [7]. Soon we will also collect the first results from LISA Pathfinder, a spacecraft experiment serving as a testbed for eLISA, a space-based interferometer. eLISA will enable us to peer deeper into the cosmos than ground-based detectors, allowing studies of the formation of more massive black holes and investigations of the strong-field behavior of gravity at cosmological distances [8].See: Viewpoint: The First Sounds of Merging Black Holes

    Sunyaev–Zel'dovich effect

    The Sunyaev–Zel'dovich effect (often abbreviated as the SZ effect) is the result of high energy electrons distorting the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB) through inverse Compton scattering, in which the low energy CMB photons receive an average energy boost during collision with the high energy cluster electrons. Observed distortions of the cosmic microwave background spectrum are used to detect the density perturbations of the universe. Using the Sunyaev–Zel'dovich effect, dense clusters of galaxies have been observed.

    Introduction


    The Sunyaev–Zel'dovich effect can be divided into:
    • thermal effects, where the CMB photons interact with electrons that have high energies due to their temperature
    • kinematic effects, a second-order effect where the CMB photons interact with electrons that have high energies due to their bulk motion (also called the Ostriker–Vishniac effect, after Jeremiah P. Ostriker and Ethan Vishniac.[1])
    • polarization
    Rashid Sunyaev and Yakov Zel'dovich predicted the effect, and conducted research in 1969, 1972, and 1980. The Sunyaev–Zel'dovich effect is of major astrophysical and cosmological interest. It can help determine the value of the Hubble constant. To distinguish the SZ effect due to galaxy clusters from ordinary density perturbations, both the spectral dependence and the spatial dependence of fluctuations in the cosmic microwave background are used. Analysis of CMB data at higher angular resolution (high l values) requires taking into account the Sunyaev–Zel'dovich effect.

    Current research is focused on modelling how the effect is generated by the intracluster plasma in galaxy clusters, and on using the effect to estimate the Hubble constant and to separate different components in the angular average statistics of fluctuations in the background. Hydrodynamic structure formation simulations are being studied to gain data on thermal and kinetic effects in the theory.[2] Observations are difficult due to the small amplitude of the effect and to confusion with experimental error and other sources of CMB temperature fluctuations. However, since the Sunyaev–Zel'dovich effect is a scattering effect, its magnitude is independent of redshift. This is very important: it means that clusters at high redshift can be detected just as easily as those at low redshift. Another factor which facilitates high-redshift cluster detection is the angular scale versus redshift relation: it changes little between redshifts of 0.3 and 2, meaning that clusters between these redshifts have similar sizes on the sky. The use of surveys of clusters detected by their Sunyaev–Zel'dovich effect for the determination of cosmological parameters has been demonstrated by Barbosa et al. (1996). This might help in understanding the dynamics of dark energy in forthcoming surveys (SPT, ACT, Planck).
