ARE YOU LIVING IN A COMPUTER SIMULATION?BY NICK BOSTROM
Nick Bostrom interviewed about the Simulation Argument.This paper argues that at least one of the following propositions is true: (1) the human species is very likely to go extinct before reaching a “posthuman” stage; (2) any posthuman civilization is extremely unlikely to run a significant number of simulations of their evolutionary history (or variations thereof); (3) we are almost certainly living in a computer simulation. It follows that the belief that there is a significant chance that we will one day become posthumans who run ancestor-simulations is false, unless we are currently living in a simulation. A number of other consequences of this result are also discussed.
In this informal interview in Atlanta June 8, 2012, Tom Campbell, author of My Big TOE, expands on the significance of the scientific experiment called the Double Slit in terms everyone can understand.Up Date: There is further information later on that Campbell recognizes as needed to further solidify his understanding on Double Slit, so he is open to that, which is good.
" If you understand the Double Slit experiment, you understand how our reality works".
He continues " Everything we do is not different from the Double Slit experiment".

Ok, you found Bostorm. As I recall he considers the computer running the simulation, literally. Campbell does not.

ReplyDelete'Ultimately' would be more useful in that statement. This model is of a hierarchical structure. Information as reality is at the top.

A virtual reality in MBT
terminology is a reality appearing within the mind of an individuated
being that participates in that virtual reality (VR). It is generated
by the incoming data stream from The Big Computer (TBC) which is
specifically created to provide the individual participant with it's own
perspective point and internal sensations within the VR. This includes
the conscious perceptions, including internal thought stream, of the
individual. This incoming data stream source can be further spoken of
as created by the Virtual Reality Rendering Engine (VRRE) as a further
conceptualization of this specific function of TBC. The properties of a
VR and as it is experienced by the participants is based on a rule set
or sets that define these properties. It exists within the mind of the
participant although it appears as external to their mind, both internal
and external to their perceived virtual body associated with their
participation in the VR. A participant experiences their 'native' VR
(as opposed to one that they are visiting only by mentally switching to
another VR data stream in which they are not 'native') as a physical
reality in which they possess a body, although the nature of that body
varies depending upon the nature of the VR. A 'non native' VR is
perceived as being non physical in that you move by though rather than
by 'walking' and what is visualized that would be 'solid' if native is
non material. In an OOBE, you move out of your 'native' place within
PMR and the result is that your perception is the same as of a 'non
native' VR.
Thanks RBM for showing further information. I will try and sort it out . I am still having some problems here with the VR and how one correlates this as paradigmatic-ally such a change alters my perception of that same reality.

ReplyDeleteDon't worry it is a new format for myself as well. Hopefully it is worth the transition.....I am hoping for more interactive capabilities....YouTube videos and imaging....not sure how far off that is.
