Measurement of the neutrino velocity with the OPERA detector

New results from OPERA on neutrino propertieslive from Main Amphitheatre.

“This result comes as a complete surprise,” said OPERA spokesperson, Antonio Ereditato of the University of Bern. “After many months of studies and cross checks we have not found any instrumental effect that could explain the result of the measurement. While OPERA researchers will continue their studies, we are also looking forward to independent measurements to fully assess the nature of this observation.”

“When an experiment finds an apparently unbelievable result and can find no artefact of the measurement to account for it, it’s normal procedure to invite broader scrutiny, and this is exactly what the OPERA collaboration is doing, it’s good scientific practice,” said CERN Research Director Sergio Bertolucci. “If this measurement is confirmed, it might change our view of physics, but we need to be sure that there are no other, more mundane, explanations. That will require independent measurements.”See:OPERA experiment reports anomaly in flight time of neutrinos from CERN to Gran Sasso

Have we considered their mediums of expression to know that we have witnessed Cerenkov radiation as a process in the faster than light, to know the circumstances of such expressions to have been understood as backdrop measures of processes we are familiar with. Explain the history of particulate expressions from vast distances across our universe?

The OPERA Detector

This is something very different though and it will be very interesting the dialogue and thoughts shared so as to look at the evidence in a way that helps us to consider what is sound in it's understanding, as speed of light.

  1. Just wondering if the collapse of the supernova can be held in correlation to that of the QGP?

The elliptic flow[1][2] is described as one of the most important observations measured at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). It is one of the strongest evidences for the Quark-gluon plasma discovery. It describes the azimuthal momentum space anisotropy of particle emission from non-central heavy-ion collisions in the plane transverse to the beam direction. Elliptic flow is characterized by the second harmonic coefficient of an azimuthal Fourier decomposition of the momentum distribution.

Elliptic flow is a fundamental observable since it directly reflects the initial spatial anisotropy, of the nuclear overlap region in the transverse plane, directly translated into to the observed momentum distribution of identified particles. Since the spatial anisotropy is largest at the beginning of the evolution, elliptic flow is especially sensitive to the early stages of system evolution. A measurement of elliptic flow thus provides access to the fundamental thermalization time scale and many more things in the early stages of a relativistic heavy-ion collision.

While we see collision process at LHC, evidence of supernova collapse has released particle decays for examination here on earth? An inevitable geometrical expression as jets following that collapse?

Contact at time of collision process provides for "faster then light particles" These are to be seen in the medium of earth and Ice?

  2. Contact at time of collision process provides for "faster then light particles" These are to be seen in the medium of earth and Ice? Velocity?

What is Cerenkov and what is muon in relation too "faster then light particles?"

    Not just graviton.

  4. What is a sterile neutrino?:)

“Many extensions of the Standard Model of particle physics, including string theory, propose a sterile neutrino;” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IceCube_Neutrino_Observatory#String_theory

What is the implication then of contact with Ice if it were discovered that the impact was with proponents of the sterile neutrino's already indicative of the ideas of cerenkov?

Yes to Graviton? We are looking at a bulk space?
