Yes you may of noticed the date is wrong again on the camera. Every time we take the batteries out for charging, we loose that date. It dawned on me at this moment and wondered if there is another internal battery that retains the time, maybe, dead too? I'll have to look.
Anyway this fellow has been sticking around the last couple of days.
When we first looked at this lot about a year an done month ago today, I noticed a lot of markings that looked like claw marks, were in fact bull moose who rub their racks on the trees and leave these marks.
You'll also notice my work table I set up to do the final work on the outside of the house. I was installing a product called Nailite
We did a board and batten around the rest of the house. I am really quite pleased tackling this job for the first time.I just finished about two days ago, and have been working like heck to finish the jobs around here, while preparing for a trip into the states. My wife, myself with three of our older grandchildren are going for a trip to Disney Land.
We had our youngest granddaughter yesterday(she's sure a sweety) for the night, as my youngest son and his wife are due for twins which will be here not to long after we get back from our trip. She needs the bed rest and she is huge, and my boy is getting run ragged. So we have been extremely busy getting things in order.
The pillars in front of the house will be done when I get back and the backdrop to the front door will have a colonial look which we are trying to keep to a cottage look.
The aggregate walkways around the house were done at the end of May. We are please with how this has turned out. Unfortunately, the snow came before we had a chance to pour them last November, after having readied the forms, and compacted the crush.

ReplyDeleteHow can you stand living in such a high density urban environment with all the noise and congestion? :-) Seriously though it’s a nice looking spot you have there. I was curious if you remain outside to work when Yogi shows up. I’m a city guy now and yet the surroundings you have shares a resemblance to what I experienced as a child growing up. I also like the mixed forest of birch and evergreens since with them you must enjoy a beautiful fall. It truly has my mind go back to most pleasant times.

ReplyDeleteSorry, I forgot to wish you and your better half a nice trip. Also I’m curious is that Disney Land or World your treating yourselves and your grandchildren to? I’ve been to the land which is in California (just south of L.A.) yet haven’t been to the world which of course is in Florida. I spent too much time at the space centre (surprise, surprise), Blue Jay spring training games and golfing the last time I was there to take it in.

ReplyDeleteSurprisingly it was when were working that he popped his head up standing behind the woodpile.
He did not seem afraid of the music(which I play while I work) or people, which was not a good sign. WE gathered the dogs and put them away, for fear of them going after it, and hence, the large vet bills.

ReplyDeleteYes I always get these confused when talking about them, but it is the one south of LA. We have planned a trip along the west coast as well. We have heard it is really quite spectacular from my co-workers, and thought this would be a nice time to introduce the children to the ocean, which they have never seen.
I have been trying to set up a telecommunication network from laptop for this trip. The most cheapest way of communicating back to the parents I think, with updates and photos, as we are going along. I thought using the cell or telephones to expensive. As well as, keeping them entertained while driving with some movies instead of the usual DVD players they now sell in vehicles.
Anyway this should fit nicely into Bee's new article on "information overload," ya think?:)

Then for sure it wasn’t rap for that has the effect to frighten any creature even some of the bipedal ones :-) Seriously as familiar that I am as being raised around the great outdoors I would always give yogi the right of way, unless of course it attempted to be a house guest.

Yes it is well worth the drive and the young ones will have something to remember that will expand them. As for the ocean in that I was raised on the opposite coast I would contend that all have an affinity for it that they never realize until they spend some time near one.

As a boy we didn’t have such devises as the trip was suppose to entertain. My father would give us the maps and have us check the route as we went to serve as navigators. For the most part he stayed off the expressways and followed the local roads so that we got a better sense of the surroundings and the people. As far as I remember I never lead us astray and yet if I had he would remind us the journey not the destination was what it was all about, except for Disneyland of course:-)

It's nice that there are still wild pigs in California. I'm surprised that they weren't all eaten by the early settlers in the West.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's obviously a wild brown bear that looks a bit like a pig. When I clicked on the picture, I could see that its ears were too far back and its legs were far too thick with muscles to be a wild pig.

Yes, most certainly one could cal it a pig from the perspective one is seeing it.I believe this is the cub's second year. Yes Phil is referring to that Yogi.:)
Actually the Cub is from a lot further north, in the wilds of Canada. Momma bear was around last year while we were building. I believe we are on her ole stomping grounds.
The coast of California might indeed have been that location. Oregon too could have been the location as well.
