The Dark Side of Extra Dimensions

"The Dark Side of Extra Dimensions" is a two-day workshop to be held at the Banff International Research Station (BIRS), Banff, Alberta, Canada, May 12-14, 2005 (organized by Valeri Frolov, Don Page, and Andrei Zelnikov, Theoretical Physics Institute, Department of Physics of the University of Alberta). At this workshop we hope to cover such topics as black holes in spacetimes with large extra dimensions, black strings, black rings, topological black holes, the Gregory-Laflamme instability, the analogue of the Petrov classification in higher dimensions, the effect of shadow matter, the statistical mechanics and entropy of black holes and other gravitational configurations in higher dimensions, and possible observable consequences of the existence of topologically nontrivial higher-dimensional objects.
